Scientific Research Background

JanusLean is a science and technology enterprise integrating production, education and research. It is based on the Medical Wearable Materials Laboratory and the only polymer and fiber processing laboratory in Hong Kong, which are led by Professor Jinlian HU at City University of Hong Kong. Professor Hu is a renowned shape memory polymer, fiber, textile and biomaterials scientist with more than 20 years of research experience in the synthesis, processing and application of intelligent polymer materials, namely fibers.

According to Stanford University's latest rankings, Prof. Hu is ranked in the top 0.097 percent in materials science area. She has a Google H-Index of 59, 14,000 citations, 14 books published, and multiple articles published in Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Biomaterials, Journal of Materials Chemistry A and Angewandte Chemie and other top journals. Professor Hu is one of the thousand experts of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Royal Chemical Society, British Textile Society and Hong Kong Textile and Garment Association. She has also received more than 60 awards, including "Textile Academic Leader" of China Textile Engineering Society, Outstanding Achievement Award of American Fiber Society and first Prize of Mulberry and Hemp Technology. Professor Hu is an industrially influential scientist with more than 80 patents, 10 of which have been transferred. She have a continuous cooperation with P&G, Invista (formerly Dupont fiber) and other Fortune 500 companies.

     She has trained more than 50 doctoral students and more than 40 post-doctoral students, most of whom are university professors and have obtained achievements including "Jieqing", and currently there are more than 20 doctoral students.
